I use many photographs and drawings to compose a painting, but there are times when an angle has to be changed, or I need another figure in the painting, or more detail. I usually try to get a friend or family member to pose and I either sketch them or take photos to get the needed reference material...

However, sometimes, there is no one available to snag for the job, or no one willing to put on a wool mid-sweater in summer, or don a sport coat and clean khakis to pose as a paddock spectator, so I have to do it myself!
